Afflatus; a particular type of inspiration in which the
artist is left astonished from the divine source it came from. The ultimate in
artistic muses, and the push to create the most amazing works of an artist’s
life. Afflatus aims to present this
divine inspiration, by showcasing Australian artists and their work.
An annual publication, Afflatus features a wide range of artists, from photographers,
painters, and tailors, to models, performance artists, and leather smiths. With
features ranging from, spreads of work, biographies, interviews, and critical
analyses, readers can learn not only about the work but also about the artists
themselves.
Whilst the title is archaic in origin, the themes are
not. Tired of the traditional, academic, and mainstream themes, each Afflatus issue features a specific,
niche theme, aiming to promote the art and artists that are ignored by
traditionalists.
The fourth issue ‘Asylum, psychiatrists, and psychosis’ will showcase
a wide range of art forms and artists influenced by, and expressing their, mental illness. Whether it
be your life with mental illness, a representation of it, or you create in spite of having a mental illness; Afflatus wants to
promote you and your work.
Releasing the next issue in February 2020, Afflatus is be a print-on demand
magazine available through Magcloud.
